    product description

    Filing of saw chains
    The left and right cutting teeth on the saw chain are cutting tools, and after using them for a period of time, the cutting edge becomes dull. In order to cut smoothly and maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge, it is necessary to file it.
    Notes for file repair:
    1. Choose a round file suitable for repairing saw chains. The cutting teeth, size, and arc of various types of saw chains vary, and the required round file standards for each type of chain are fixed. The manual provides detailed information, please pay attention to it.
    2. Pay attention to the direction and angle of file trimming, and move the file forward along the direction of the cutting edge. When pulling it back, it should be light and avoid back and forth force as much as possible. Generally, the angle between the cutting edge of the saw chain is about 30 degrees, and the front is high and the back is low, with an angle of about 10 degrees. These angles may vary depending on the softness and hardness of the material being sawed and the usage habits of the sawing hand. At the same time, pay attention to the symmetry of the left and right teeth. If the deviation is too large, the saw will deviate and tilt.
    3. Pay attention to the height of the limit teeth. Each cutting tooth protrudes a part in front of it, which is called the limit tooth. It is 0.6-0.8 millimeters lower than the upper part of the cutting edge, and the cutting amount per tooth is so thick. When filing the cutting edge, pay attention to its height. If the cutting edge is filed more, the limit teeth will be higher than the corresponding cutting edge, and the cutting amount will be smaller each time, affecting the cutting speed. If the cutting edge is lower than the limit teeth, it will not eat wood and cannot be cut. If the limit teeth are filed too low, each cutting of each tooth is too thick, which may lead to "knife pricking" and inability to cut.
    5、 Maintenance of saw chains
    The saw chain operates at a fast speed. Taking a 3/8 saw chain as an example, with 7 teeth in the sprocket and an engine speed of 7000 rpm during operation, the saw chain runs at a speed of 15.56 meters per second. The driving force of the sprocket and the reaction force during cutting are concentrated on the rivet shaft, resulting in harsh working conditions and severe wear. If not maintained properly, the saw chain will quickly become unusable.
    Maintenance should be carried out from the following aspects:
    1. Regularly pay attention to adding lubricating oil;
    2. Maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge and the symmetry of the left and right cutting teeth;
    3. Regularly adjust the tension of the saw chain, not too tight or too loose. When lifting the adjusted saw chain by hand, one of the middle guide teeth should fully expose the guide plate groove;
    4. Timely clean and clean the dirt on the guide groove and saw chain, as both the guide and saw chain will wear out during sawing. The worn iron filings and fine sand will accelerate the wear. The gum on trees, especially the grease on pine trees, will heat up and melt during the sawing process, causing various joints to seal, harden, and the engine oil cannot enter, which cannot be lubricated and can also accelerate wear. It is recommended to remove the saw chain after use every day and soak it in kerosene for cleaning.
